LA Baby

Vacation Theory is a still and motion production company that works internationally. DAD first met them while on production in Los Angeles. Glendale, to be exact, which just so happens to be home to VT’s headquarters. While working together, Annabella and Sage (aka Vacation Theory) mentioned that they were looking for a new mark to better match the style of work they were producing. They then asked if we knew anyone who did that kind of work.

Vacation Inspiration

Annabella and Sage provided us with a wealth of vintage European travel brochures as inspiration. After several long, interesting, meandering and invigorating conversations, we had a good grasp on how to bring the new mark to life. It needed to be infused with vintage inspiration, but modern enough to last into the future.

Hand to Heart

Starting with pencil sketches, we explored several directions. All were in the same vein, while leaning into different aspects of the inspiration and staying close to the personalities of Vacation Theory’s proprietors. In the end, we settled on a mark that combined a sense of motion and an ease of application, via a flexible application methodology™ (aka we made several versions of the mark). The full mark, the monogram and the pattern are now all proud parts of the Vacation Theory identity system. Catch them on a call sheet near you.
