Borka is a direct-to-consumer fashion accessory brand based in Portland, Oregon. They design and hand-make leather goods from locally sourced materials. The name “Borka” is part of the founder’s personal history. When she was born, her older brother couldn’t quite pronounce her name. Hence, “Bekah” became “Borka,” and the malapropism lives on.
Handmade to Hand Drawn
This project was unique for DAD. Borka didn’t require a full identity system—rather, they needed an ownable mark for both marketing and the leather goods themselves. So, Tess started sketching some concepts.
Stamped in Time
After working closely with Bekah, Tess developed several logo options. Once a decision was made, Tess digitized her hand-sketched logo. The final mark was applied to Borka’s digital presence and also solidified (literally) in brass. Peter got in on the action, hand hammering the brass stamp on several finished pieces.
A DADxBorka collab is forthcoming.
