As Nextflix prepared to launch a promo campaign for its latest Leonardo DiCaprio/Jennifer Lawrence/Jonah Hill/Meryl Streep/Adam McKay title, it hooked up with a group working not just to change the world, but to change the future. In case you haven’t seen in (in which case, you should), Don’t Look Up is an end-of-the-world black comedy that’s a little too close to home to be 100% comedy, while still being really funny. In barely veiled terms the film addresses the issue of climate change, and the fact that most people feel, at best, ambivalent about stopping it.

1 Billion Served

DAD was tasked with concepting, designing and writing a digital climate platform to:
1. Promote Don’t Look Up, and, more importantly,
2. Inspire 1 billion people to significantly reduce their carbon pollution and challenge leaders to deliver bold, global change.

That second part came via integration with a program called Count Us In, a global movement of people and organizations taking effective action on climate change.

DAD Goes International

We worked with our friends at Studio Wonderlab, Project Drawdown, The EU, dozens of other agencies and organizations around the world, and our two (fresh out of school) interns, Claire & Cara.

The concepts we crafted centered on connecting our audience with the movie’s story arc and translating that to real-world, individual action, without confusing anyone along the way. Collaborating virtually with teams globally, we worked through concepting, revisions, final asset delivery (including an excellent exploding comet gift made by Cara) and translation it into a multitude of languages.

The movie launched, the site went live, Leo tweeted, visits went through the roof, and the platform continues to draw attention to ways in which each and every one of us can actually do something about climate change. Check out the site and see what steps you can take today in your own part of the world.
